This is the home of Renee Robbins’s mixed media artwork.
I (Renee), concentrate on creating highly textured original mixed media art to sell to collectors and originals which are appropriate for commercial licensing.
I am an over 50 emerging artist with an eclectic background. Much of it has been spent searching for and delving deeper into my creative energy.
My philosophy is “use what you have” which is how my art started.
I still favor those materials today. Wall paint. Joint compound. Cardboard boxes. Wood glue. These are some of my favorites to work with.
This first collection is entitled “Bad Poppies”.
The name is derived of several meanings. The first, was a happy accident.
One of the first pieces I did for this collection, had a couple of strokes that sort of looked like black flowers.
The color palette for this mixed media collection is black, white and a bit of red. So I was reminded of a field of poppies. Albeit, if a ‘field’ contained two or three flowers.
Additionally, I was reminded of a 1950s movie entitled “Bad Poppies”.
It’s a black and white film featuring mildly risque content.
The name came to mind quickly and stuck.
If you decide to purchase one of my pieces, know you are supporting independence, in all its forms. I am deeply grateful to you for that.
I wish you many years of success and happiness.
